NOLLY, John A. Died 26 May 1889 Age 83(?) Yr 28 Da
(From the Jacksonville Journal of Sept. 6, 1893, under Murrayville
news:
A few days since A. Wade,
sexton of Bethel cemetery, with John Osburn as helper, were solicited
by
the friends of John Nolly,
deceased, who died some five years ago, to take up the body and remove
it to another place in the
cemetery. Upon their reaching the box they found that the outside box
was
full of water. Upon removing
the casket it took four stout men to get it out of the grave. Upon
opening
the casket they found the
features and head but very little changed, except that the hair had
grown
long enough to reach his
shoulders, and the beard, which was clean shaven at the time of death,
had grown near a foot in length.
Some say it is a very remarkable case.)
