A Note of Clarification: There were two Reuben Ross' from Maryland who served in the Revolutionary War and filed requests for pension. Reuben who died in Ohio, was granted a petition. Reuben who died in Illinois was denied a pension, but his service is recorded. He is the subject of this Family History Report.

In 1796 he moved to Rockingham County, North Carolina where he lived for 11-13 years. He moved to Sumner County, Tennessee where he resided for 22 years. In 1828 he moved to Morgan County, Illinois where he applied for a pension on November 16, 1832."

O., was born and reared in Macoupin County, Illinois, and identified himself with the agricultural industry there until 1865, when he came to Nebraska, and has been actively engaged in the agricultural and stock industry of this locality since. In 1853 he was married to Miss Elizabeth A. Sanders, who was born in Kentucky, and there reared until attaining her twelfth year, when she immigrated with her parents to Macoupin County, Illinois They have a family of seven sons and four daughters--Wm. Moved to Nebraska in the fall of 1871 when Seth was 15 years old. From Seth's Boyhood Day. See Appendix. Family moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska in 1871, Sterling Nebraska 1872, Adams 1876.

"Kept Company" with Lydia for about 5 years before marrying in 1879.

In 1886 he traveled by 'car' to Haigler, Nebraska, then took a buggy to his land claim in Wano/St. Francis, Cheyenne County, Kansas. Seth was granted two sections of 80 acres each. E 1/2 NE 8-3-4- and N 1/2 NW 9-3-40. Source: Copies of Land Patents. He left Lydia and Elsie with his parents until after Jo's birth, and in June they joined him in the sod house he had built for them.

The family moved to Kent, Washington Territory from Nebraska in 1890. Lydia traveled to Kent with brother Joseph Newton, and her two girls. I have a picture of the family taken soon after their arrival in Washington Territory.
