County Clerk has Birth, Death and burial records from 1878; Marriage
records
from 1827, Divorce records from 1831, Probate records from 1836, Civil
Court records from 1828, Land records from 1823.
Morgan County Courthouse had a fire and all of the earliest records were destroyed with the exception of Land records. The Clerk had those books at home. There is a span of four years where all marriages were lost, 1823 - 1826. Morgan County Clerk is usually very cooperative with genealogy requests, as are the other Clerks.
Morgan County Birth, Marriage and Death Records can also be obtained from the State of Illinois. More information is available at http://www.idph.state.il.us/vitalrecords/index.htm and http://www.vitalrec.com/il.html.
