This cemetery is an overgrown thicket, trees and limbs have fallen, no one cares for it.
Although situated only four miles north of the Illinois Braille and Sight Saving School, Hazel Green Cemetery is one of the more difficult cemeteries to reach in Morgan County. Known as the Savage Station neighborhood only traces remain of a lane which apparently was the route to this cemetery in the northeast quarter of Section 4 Township 15 N Range 10 W. It is located near where the old Hazel Green School stood. In the school religious services were held for this neighborhood. It was deeded to the "Immediate Community" for a "Burial Ground," in 1850, by John Laurie and his wife, Jemima Kirk, and John Sammons and Mary, his wife, and Robert Metcalf and Mary, his wife, and the Trustee of School in township 15, range 10, were to be the trustees and successors in office forever, for the use of the inhabitants of the vicinity.
