All visible traces of this cemetery were erased in 1960 when about
10
or
12 tombstones were removed to Liberty and Asbury cemeteries. The bodies
were left interred at the site. Hembrough cemetery is about 1/2 mile
east
of Liberty Cemetery, adjacent to and on the north side of what is
commonly
known as Liberty Road. The cemetery site is about 3 1/2 miles west of
Jacksonville's
Central Park Plaza. Legal description of the site of Hembrough Cemetery
is in the extreme southwest corner of Section 15 of Township 15 N Range
11 W. The compiler is indebted to Harold Edwin Hembrough for all
information
concerning Hembrough Cemetery.
