Cemetery transcription by members of the Jacksonville
Area
Genealogical and Historical Society
The tombstone readings for this overgrown cemetery were made in
1966, 1967, and 1968 by Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Lovekamp, Mr. and Mrs.
Lee
Fox, and Keith and Carroll Lovekamp. In 1966 they found only one stone
still standing, that of Mary E. Williamson. Livestock had roamed in the
cemetery. Several stones had been stacked in a fencerow, while others
were
partially buried and had to be dug up in order to read the
inscriptions.
According to a Cass County History book, John Savage built the house
which
stands on the same farm where Morrison Cemetery is located. The
neglected
cemetery is about 2¼ miles northwest of Concord. Legal
description
of the cemetery site is in the northeast quarter of Section 13 in
Township
16 N and Range 12 W (SW corner N½ SE¼ NE¼ 13 - 16
- 12 pm.
Words in brackets [ ] or parenthesis ( )are not on
stone.
