Cemetery transcription by members of the Jacksonville
Area
Genealogical and Historical Society
This rural cemetery is about 5 1/2 miles directly east of
Meredosia.
To visit this well-kept, fenced cemetery, turn off Illinois Route 104
at
the gravel road just southeast of the intersection of Illinois Routes
104
and 100. Another way of saying this is to take the gravel road
northeastward
from Hodges (Muntman) Cemetery, which is located on Meredosia Hill.
Drive
eastward on the gravel road for about 2 1/2 miles, until you reach the
first road that runs south. Drive south on this good gravel road for
one-half
mile and you are at Tholen Cemetery. Tholen Cemetery is in the
south-west
quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 28 in Township 16 N and
Range
12 W. Every tombstone is erect and the cemetery is obviously well cared
for.
