Obituary: William ZOLL, son of Conrad Adams and Barbara ZOLL was born March 13, 1850 in St. Louis, Mo., and died at his home in Waverly, Monday, November 22, 1926, aged 76 years, 8 months and 9 days.
He came to Waverly in 1866 and on November 30, 1880, he was married to Margaret SLATTERY who still survives him. To this union were born four children: Mrs. S. T. SMETTERS and Mrs. Chester HARRISON of Chicago, Mrs C. F. MORRIS of Waverly, and Fred ZOLL of Berkeley, California. Besides these he is survived by five granchildren: Margaret and Gene HARRISON, C.Franklin MORRIS, and Rosemary and Margaret ZOLL; two neices and two nephews, Mrs. Margaret WORTH, Virden; Mrs. Clara VANDEVER, Loami; Geo. ZOLL, Alton; and John ZOLL, Waverly, together with numerous other relatives.
He was a member of the German Lutheran Church of St. Louis. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow’s Lodge for 44 years, and Hazel Camp No. 138, Modern Woodman of America.Mr. ZOLL was a resident of Waverly for 60 years. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and leaves a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held at the residence Wednesday afternoon November 24, in charge of Rev. C. W. ANDREW, pastor of the M. E. Circuit, assisted by Rev. J. B. HOUSER, paster of the Congregational church. Music was furnished by Mrs. L. T. SEALES, Mrs. F. H. CURTISS, R. E. COE and F. H. CURTISS. The pall bearers were Thomas RODGERS, S. W. RODGERS, E. M. ANDERSON, A. V. SPEANHOWER, Hugh PATTERSON, and J. H. SEVIER. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Hugh PATTERSON, Mrs. Roy MITCHELL, Mrs. Ben EDWARDS, Mrs. G. B. GOLDSMITH, Miss Hannah MAHER, and Miss Margaret WORTH. Interment was in East cemetery.
