James Jasper Myers around 1861.
Probably 17 yrs. old. We have conflicting stories about his enlistment.
Some say he was in the Union Army and marched with Sherman to the
Sea and also fought in the Battle of Vicksburg. Others believe he was in
the Confederate Army and fought at the Battle of Pea Ridge in Arkansas.
We are determined to find the correct information.





James Jasper Myers and wife Catharine Sevier Myers.
They were married 11-24-1861 in Brown Co. Illinois. They farmed in Morgan Co.
until around 1873 when they moved to Chariton Co. Missouri.

James lived in the Jacksonville area at the time he enlisted in the war.
He went to Brown County, Illinois on leave while in the war and married
Catharine Sevier. They lived and farmed in the Jacksonville area until around 1873
when they moved to Chariton Co. Missouri. James walked home from a prison camp
in Ohio at the end of the war to his wife and his 2 1/2 yr. old son whom he had never seen.
